Research on Operation Cost-Benefits of China High-Speed Railway  [PDF]

Abstract:

At Present, to satisfy the demand of passengers travelling convenience, China’s High Speed Railway has entered an unprecedented rapid development period. Under this background, research on operation cost-benefits of china high-speed railway is most important and meaningful. The article concludes the following three parts. The first part is to give the definition of research scope. The second part is to give analysis and evaluation on opening and operation cost-benefits. This part is to give a detailed evaluation indexes system and FAHP calculation model; furthermore, to give an example to illustrate the application of evaluation indexes system and FAHP calculation model. The final part is to give effective suggestions and measures to improve cost-benefits of CRH.

The Safety of Walking Space for the Elderly People Living in Communities in Beijing, China  [PDF]

Abstract: China has become an aging society. Aging in place is an important option for the elderly people in China due to the influence of Chinese tradition. Communities are the environment where the elderly people spend most of their time. The walking space in the communities is important for the safety of the elderly people. The research studied the safety of walking space of the elderly people living in the communities by using the data collected by observation, interviews and questionnaire surveys. The results identified three types of risks which are caused by pavements, public facilities and surrounding environment based on the qualitative analysis. The results of the quantitative analysis by using SPSS 19.0 found that the risks are highest in surrounding environment than the pavements and public facilities. The public facilities have the lowest risks. The findings of this study provide knowledge for future transformation of the old communities and the planning of new communities.
Preliminary Study of Flora from the Upper Lower Cretaceous Dalazi Formation in Luozigou Basin, Wangqing, Jilin Province, Northeast China  [PDF]

Abstract: In the middle Cretaceous vegetation changed rapidly for the diversification of angiosperms, there are few extensive analyses of the plant fossils (including leaves, fruits, seeds and woods) from this period in China. New abundant fossil plants collected from the upper Lower Cretaceous Dalazi Formation in the Luozigou Basin, Wangqing, Jilin Province were studied and 25 species belonging to 17 genera were recognized. Up to date totally 39 species belonging to 25 genera were discovered in the Luozigou Basin. The assemblage is composed mainly of conifers (47.5%) and early angiosperms (30%) and indicates that the vegetation was a transitional flora between the Early Cretaceous fern-gymnosperm flora and the Late Cretaceous angiosperm flora. The flora was a Pseudofrenelopsis-angiosperm assemblage in succession of Early Cretaceous flora and the late Early Cretaceous, probable Albian in age. During the late Early Cretaceous, the Luozigou Basin was dominated by hot and arid climate and sometimes probably interrupted by wet climate.
Numerical Analysis of Upwind Difference Schemes for Two-Dimensional First-Order Hyperbolic Equations with Variable Coefficients  [PDF]

Abstract: In this paper, we consider the initial-boundary value problem of two-dimensional first-order linear hyperbolic equation with variable coefficients. By using the upwind difference method to discretize the spatial derivative term and the forward and backward Euler method to discretize the time derivative term, the explicit and implicit upwind difference schemes are obtained respectively. It is proved that the explicit upwind scheme is conditionally stable and the implicit upwind scheme is unconditionally stable. Then the convergence of the schemes is derived. Numerical examples verify the results of theoretical analysis.

Abstract: It is necessary for China to refocus its energy conservation effort from the industrial sector (field) to all three sectors simultaneously, i.e. industry, construction and transport. In addition, it should also make significant effort for conserving energy on general technical equipment that are used in large quantities and for a variety of applications. Therefore, there is a need to integrate industrial, construction and transport sectors, i.e. the integration between key technologies and widely used technologies, between hard and soft management, between energy-saving technologies and comprehensive resource utilization technologies. According to estimates, if China’s energy consuming sectors adopted appropriate energy-saving technologies, total energy-savings (using 2010 as the baseline) would be 200 million, 450 million, 650 million and 800 million tons of standard coal in 2015, 2020, 2025 and 2030, respectively.

Abstract: In order to effectively make biological image classification and identification, this paper studies the biological owned characteristics, gives an encryption algorithm, and presents a biological classification algorithm based on the encryption process. Through studying the composition characteristics of palm, this paper uses the biological classification algorithm to carry out the classification or recognition of palm, improves the accuracy and efficiency of the existing biological classification and recognition approaches, and compares it with existing main approaches of palm classification by experiments. Experimental results show that this classification approach has the better classification effect, the faster computing speed and the higher classification rate which is improved averagely by 1.46% than those of the main classification approaches.
The Use of Coastal Reservoirs and SPP Strategy to Provide Sufficient High Quality Water to Coastal Communities  [PDF]

Abstract:

Water quality-induced water shortage is emerging as one of the main threats for the growth of the world’s population and economic development, especially for coastal cities in developing nations. This paper discusses how to supply enough sufficiently clean water to such cities using the technologies of coastal reservoirs and wetland pre-treatments, as well as employing the SPP strategy. The so-called coastal reservoir is defined as a freshwater reservoir situated in seawater which sources its water from river runoff; to improve its water quality, a wetland is used to pre-treat the runoff that is potentially polluted by domestic, agricultural and industrial contaminants. Generally, the existing lakes in the urban-rural fringe are severely polluted; the Separation, Protection and Prevention (SPP) strategy can quickly restore the lakes’ water quality to a drinkable standard. In this study, we take Shanghai, the largest city in China, as an example to investigate the feasibility of the proposed strategies. This investigation shows that using the technology of coastal reservoirs in Shanghai, namely the Qingcaosha Reservoir, freshwater can be pumped from the sea without requiring the desalination process and if an agricultural wetland on Chongming Island is used to pre-treat the river water prior to its storage, its water quality will be improved to Class II. It is also found that Dianshan Lake, which has been polluted and had a water quality of worse than class 5 in 2015, can have its water quality improved to class II in a short period if the SPP strategy is applied. It is expected that it will be a cost-effective and sustainable water supply method for coastal cities.

Contents and Distribution of Petroleum Hydrocarbons (PHC) in Jiaozhou Bay Waters  [PDF]

Abstract: Based on data from the investigation in Jiaozhou bay waters in 1979, the distribution, pollution source and seasonal variation of PHC in Jiaozhou Bay are analyzed. It is showed that in Jiaozhou bay PHC contents arrived the national Category Ⅱof the water quality standard during this year. In summer in the bay the pollution of PHC was heavy, while relatively light in spring. In the coastal waters in the east and the northeast of the bay, the PHC contents in spring surpassed the national Category Ⅱ, and surpassed the national Category Ⅲ. In the coastal waters, in the northeast of the bay, the change of the PHC contents formed the grads: the contents presented the falling trend from the big one to the small, which unveiled that the PHC souce in the bay mainly came from the discharge of the industrial waste water and living sewage.
